The Department of New Media was established in 2017 to identify and study the topics relating to new media, considered especially in terms of media-studies and communicology.
Researchers from the Department address in their research the processes that create an algorithmic culture, explore digital humanities, study media education methods and media linguistics. We are interested in the language of today’s media, linguistic manipulation e.g. in computational propaganda, today’s forms of disinformation, the problems of trustworthiness and fake news in the media.
An important area investigated in the Department is medical and health-related communication both in traditional and new media.
